Help with a 8 week year old boy kitten?
I got the kitten yesterday. I have a Litter tray but it is eating the litter and not using it as a toilet. He has started weeing in the food bowl. He won't eat the dry food I got him nor will he drink water only kitten milk. He is also not using the scratcher I bought, instead he is scratching the botton of my leather sofa. ANY ADVICE!
Where did you get him from?I ask because some times if you get a kitten from a farmer(out of the barn) or where it wasn't kept clean you can have problems.At eight weeks he should eat hard food with no problem,are you sure about his age?What kind of litter are you using?He may just be playing with it.To start put him in the bathroom or other room where you can confine him except when you hold and play with him and put down the litter box with a small amount of litter .Put him here when you don't have him and after playing put him in this room in the box..He should catch on..Try giving him canned kitten food for a while.He sounds like he is younger then you think and can't chew the hard food.Give kitten milk diluted with water .Wean him off the milk over a week or so.As to the scratching keep his toenails clipped and use a spray water bottle and give him a squirt and say no when he scratches where he shouldn't.
