How can I create a Database in Access that would allow me to search bars and their tap beers in Milwaukee?
I am thinking that I will have a Table named: Bars, Tap Beers, and Specials. I need to relate all of these tables. I would want someone to be able to search for a bar on a specific street that has a certain brand of beer on tap during happy hour. And then the query would go through the database and provide the answers. Hope this helps, email me for more information.
Here's what I am thinking...
table Bars includes id#, street no, street nm, other bar-specific data
table TapBeers is a code table that consists of names of beers and id#
table BarsBeers is used to join bars to tap beers, fields are bar id# and TapBeers id# (for each bar id# there are zero to many TapBeers id#)
table Specials fields timeStart, timeEnd, dayofweek, Bars id#, TapBeers id#, priceSingleDols, sizeSingleOz, pricePitcherDols, sizePitcherOz
That's off the top of my head, so the foregoing may not be perfect. Bear in mind that you will need to cascade deletes to BarsBeers to the Specials table, otherwise you'll have a special for a beer no longer sold! Similarly, you will need to cascade deletes to TapBeers to both BarsBeers and Specials (this should never happen unless the beer becomes defunct).
The query on Specials may be somewhat complex...
Give my regards to Brady Street, and Cheers!
