Roll top desk drawers stuck?
I have a rolltop desk that somehow has all the drawers stuck closed. I can find nothing to push or whatever to get the drawers open. I know there is some trick but I cannot for the life of me find out what it is. Any help on this will be appreciated.
If your roll top has a drawer locking device it should be near or around the well ( where you put your legs) some times they will put the latch at one end or the other top back where if is presumed the desk is against the wall and would not be noticed. Otherwise if you are in a damp climate that could be the reason for the drawers to stick. The wood has asorbed moisture and has swollen. If this is the case then you need to slowly dry it out by placing a dehumidifier or dry heat source near it. If this is done carefully and over a long period of time the wood will shrink back to its normal size and make it possiable to open. If moisture is the problem then the contentents are also damp and it will take quite a long time to be able to open the drawers without damage to them, up to a year.
