dinner seating dilemma!!?
hey guys! im having a summer nights dinner at my home with around 15 people coming.. the only problem is my dining table has only enough room to fit 10 people so i thought of adding an extra table at the end for the other 5! ALSO, i'd love to have it outside on the balcony with the smaller table for 5 near the balcony (at the connecting doors)..
if that idea doesnt work.. is it a bad idea to have everyone get their food and eat on the floor???!?! i want to have my table set out and everything but not everyone will fit =(

Change the menu to a buffet and arrange the chairs (you must have 16?) into 2 groupings and let people choose where they wish to sit.
(Don't forget, as hostess, you must spend equal time with each group.)
If you need to, borrow t.v. tray-tables for people
to put drinks on plus set out salts and peppers.
A large flower arrangement in the center of the dining room (now, buffet) table and you're set.
You could put the smaller table, on the balcony, and serve dessert, plus coffee and tea, outside.
My opinion is, unless you live in a castle (or you're having a family Holiday dinner) lining up so many at a dinner table is awkward as you're limiting people to"visiting and conversation time" with, only, the people nearest them. Will be more fun for your guests if you don't confine them. (I've had more than 300 dinner parties with many of them for 20 to 25 guests - once had 65 to dinner but, I didn't have time to eat!).
