Wineries expanding in California: Environmental no-no? Can I still enjoy a glass without guilt?
I consider myself an environmentalist but a lot of the newer wineries have removed considerable oak woodlands and other native habitat. Are some wineries greener than others?
If they were removing woodland to put up parking lots or highrises, I would definitely agree with your sentiment.
But as it is, they are removing one plantlife to replace it with another.
Now it would be cooler if they could retain some of that forest, perhaps thinned somewhat, while planting between trees or something.
