what happens if i only drink water eat bananas and eat fruit and nut granola bars?

Im trying to lose weight and tone up for summer. Im 14 years old and 124 pounds. If i ate 5 small meals through out the day consiting of maybe a fruit and nut granola bar or maybe a banana then i drink a TON of water a day, what will happen????? thanks:) - no rude comments!

I weighed 120lbs when I was 14. It's a perfectly healthy weight (as long as you're not very short or very tall.) That being said, there's nothing wrong with wanting to eat healthier and "tone up." So here's my advice:

Five small meals a day is a great idea, but you're thinking a bit too small and way too restricted.

Eat a large variety of fresh fruit and vegetables. Fruits do have a higher sugar content, but they're still good for you. Vegetables, though, are very low in calories, fat, and sugar, but very very high in many other nutrients. Try to eat as many differently colored plants as you can each day, as the color of the plant typically reflects what kind of goodies it provides for your body.

Most granola bars are really just candy bars with a health halo, so try to avoid those. If you like granola, try buying some granola that's not in bar form, and make sure it's the kind with no sugar added. I love eating granola like cereal with a splash of vanilla-cinnamon rice milk. Adding almonds will make it even tastier, and add some protein for a great breakfast.

Speaking of protein, it's something you'd be seriously lacking if you followed this diet. As a young girl you need about 50 grams of protein each day. You also need to make sure that you get complete proteins (meaning that all of the essential amino acids are present in what you eat.) Some light options for this include: Beans with rice, hummus on toast, soy products like tofu or tempeh, and much, much more.

Alright, so that covers the diet portion. On to exercise! When trying to tone up, you'll want to do aerobic workouts like yoga and pilates to build long, lean muscles. However, since it's summer and you're 14, I would suggest just running around outside every day. Go ride your bike or climb some trees or swim. Don't be shy or embarrassed about your body. You're way too young for that. Just go have some fun.
