How do I remove fly poo from a lamp shade?
I have about 4 cream coloured, drum shaped lamp shades in my house and they are covered in fly poo. I just don't know how to tackle cleaning them and they're getting worse and worse the longer I put it off. They're cream, so I can't use bleach can I? And as they're not soft I can't put them through the washing machine. I'm too scared to put a wet cloth to them in case the fly poo instantly spreads and I end up with camo light shades. Help!
FYI: (From the ever-semi-reliable wikipedia) "House flies ... deposit faeces constantly, one of the factors that makes the insect a very dangerous and heinous carrier of pathogens." Unfortunately in summer (2 months away) we keep all doors and windows open constantly, so, barring putting mesh over all doors and windows which is not in our budget this year, I have to just clean it off. Luckily the field next door is now a tennis club so there won't be cows attracting flies as much. Thanks for all suggestions!
Use warm soapy water and a small sponge then dry with a hairdryer.
